It is time to meet the wonderfully whimsical Cat you do not know, voiced by the one and only Bill Hader and arriving exclusively in theaters and IMAX on November 6, 2026.
Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is sending the beloved Dr. Seuss creation into an all-new fantastical adventure where mischief, magic and mayhem are not side effects. They are practically part of the job description.

In this reimagined world, the Cat works for the I.I.I.I.—the Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC—where creating joy is apparently a highly organized profession.
Unfortunately, every one of his previous assignments has reportedly become a disaster.
His latest mission may therefore be his last chance to prove himself: cheer up Gabby and Sebastian, two siblings struggling to feel at home after moving to a new town.
If the Cat succeeds, he may finally demonstrate that his signature chaos can accomplish something useful. If he fails, he risks losing the magical hat—and without the hat, what exactly remains of the Cat in the Hat?
Knowing this particular feline, a gentle afternoon of emotional support was never going to be enough.
The Cat introduces the siblings to a device known as the go-backer, which appears capable of transporting them into a world built from their own memories.
Gabby sees a possible way to undo the family’s move and return to the life she left behind. The Cat sees an opportunity to complete his assignment. Naturally, both plans begin unraveling almost immediately.
The new trailer opens the door to a planet of exploding hats, strange creatures, disappearing objects, dangerous inventions and increasingly large consequences for what began as one child wishing she could go home.
Hader’s energetic voice performance is joined by Xochitl Gomez, Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Paula Pell, Tiago Martinez, Giancarlo Esposito, America Ferrera, Bowen Yang and Tituss Burgess.
The film is written and directed by Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni, with a story by Caroline Williams and production by Daniela Mazzucato.
The animation stretches Dr. Seuss’s curved architecture, impossible machinery and anything-can-happen visual language into an enormous cinematic playground. Every frame appears ready to open into another room, another dimension or another completely unnecessary explosion.
Yet beneath all the irreverent commotion, the trailer also carries a gentler idea about adjusting to change. Gabby cannot simply erase the move, but she may be able to discover that new memories do not have to replace the old ones.
Press play on thee singularly irreverent journey through a whimsical world audiences have never seen before.
