Selena Gomez has always been a pop queen ahead of her time emotionally, spiritually and musically (Bad Liar, Fetish, ILYLALS). Playing it against the tide and never surrendering her creativity for the sake of bandwagon. In this Finneas (Billie Eilish's brother) produced the brand new tearful tune entitled "Lose You To Love Me".
She finally addresses everything in regards to everything about her personal intimate feelings. Of course, it's also the death to her and the Biebs. Or more like the coffin to her previously released song, from many moonlights ago, "The Heart Wants What It Wants". She talks about being emotional used and abused.
What are the odds, that a kind and thoughtful, generous human being is being taken advantage of? Almost all the time it occurs. Frighteningly enough it sometimes comes from the ones nearest to you. Don't get it twisted, its the not actual conning or conniving exploitation wrapped in a bed of manipulation that hurts. It's the simple unaccountability of accepting responsibilities for hurtful behavior. Or even the simple appreciation and value of an innocent decent heart.
Like Selena sings in the song:
"I put you first and you adored it
Set fires to my forest
And you let it burn
Sang off-key in my chorus
'Cause it wasn't yours
Set fire to my purpose
And I let it burn
You got off on the hurtin'
When it wasn’t yours, yeah
I gave my all and they all don't know it
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me, yeah
And now the chapter is closed and done
To love, yeah
And now it's goodbye, it's goodbye for us."
It's been four years since Selena's last record, 2015's, Revival, and a now it's about time that she have a reinvention era is finally upon us. With her signature plush and ethereal vocals the tune is accompanied by a gorgeous looking Selena. It's a Black and white musique video motif, filmed entirely on the new iPhone 11 Pro by Sophie Muller. She also helped create Selena's iconic “Good for You” song.
Selena shared the following thoughts on her IG: "You give your all and they all don't know it. You hammer my spirit and belief in the human race. This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself." - Selena Gomez
