Zephyring 32 Years ago, on July 31, 1994 “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” was officially released as a single by the legendary “Queen of Tejano Music,” Selena Quintanilla.

The Album: It was released as the second effort from her landmark, record-breaking album, Amor Prohibido.

The title is an onomatopoeic phrase meant to mimic the sound of a racing, fluttering heartbeat when you see someone you love.

The track peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, holding the top spot for four consecutive weeks.

Musicologists credit the infectious cumbia-pop track with bridging the gap between traditional Tejano sounds and mainstream global pop.
