The women’s collection from Band of Outsiders designer Scott Sternberg, has announced that the ‘hefty price tag’ that normally surrounds there garments, is set to launch girl, a diffusion line for those who can’t afford $1,700 blazers.
Sternberg wants to push his sales from $12 million to $40 million over the next three years, and he understands that in order to accomplish such a feat, he must broaden his customer base.
Jumping from $12 million to $40 million is not an easy task. To put it in perspective: 3.1 Phillip Lim brought in about $50 million in sales last year, while Alexander Wang garnered $25 million.
When you consider the number of storefronts Wang and Lim are in and compare it with Sternberg, his goals seem lofty. Hopefully, with a lower-priced collection to better compete with those aforementioned brands, as well as some of other favorites, it’s a possibility. Especially if he gets financial backing from a private equity firm.
