The Family Tree Is Famous, But These Harmonies Stand On Their Own

Today’s Song Choice of the Day arrives with one extraordinary family tree and, more importantly, three voices powerful enough to grow beyond it. The Womack Sisters—Kucha, Zeimani and BG Womack—bring retro-soul warmth, modern emotional clarity and superb sibling harmony to their new single, “If I Let You.”

The lineage is undeniable. They are Sam Cooke’s granddaughters, nieces of Bobby Womack and daughters of Zekkariyas and Zeriiya, formerly known as the duo Womack & Womack. They grew up around stages, studios and touring life, singing behind their parents alongside their siblings before stepping forward with a group and sound of their own.

Still, do not reach for the easy nepo label. These are natural-born singers who clearly pull strength, phrasing and soul from their famous relatives, but the energy belongs to them. Their harmonizing is superb—close, intuitive and lived-in—and “If I Let You” lands because the sisters sound like a true vocal unit, not three names leaning on somebody else’s legacy.

“If I Let You” carries the glow of classic soul without becoming a museum piece. The production leaves room for the sisters’ voices to move around one another, trading lead moments before tightening into harmonies that feel effortless even when the arrangement is doing intricate work underneath.

There is also a lovely tension inside the song. Its groove feels welcoming and romantic, but the title carries hesitation: what happens if the emotional door actually opens? The Womack Sisters sing that uncertainty with confidence, giving the track both its flirtation and its ache.

The single leads into the trio’s self-titled debut album, due August 14 through Daptone Records. Produced by Gabriel Roth, the collection looks back toward the family’s deep gospel, R&B and soul inheritance while allowing Kucha, Zeimani and BG to define what the Womack name sounds like in their own generation.

That distinction matters. Plenty of artists inherit access to music; fewer inherit the responsibility of a name this storied and still manage to sound relaxed, joyful and unmistakably themselves. The Womack Sisters do not run from the bloodline, but they are not trapped inside it either. They turn it into fuel.

“If I Let You” is thee proof: three sisters, one beautifully locked blend and enough individual character to make the family history feel like a beginning rather than the whole story.
