Present Day Developments: Forget the usual shift briefing — one Texas police officer had to go toe-to-toe with a very determined bird outside his own station.

The surveillance video was recorded on August 5, 2026, in the parking lot outside the Southside Place Police Department in the Houston area. The officer is standing near a department vehicle when the bird suddenly comes swooping in.

And this was not a one-and-done flyby. The bird circles back at least four times, sending the officer ducking, swatting and eventually throwing a few defensive air punches as his tiny airborne opponent keeps returning for another round.

After several attempts to hold his ground, the officer finally exits the parking lot. We are not declaring a winner here — but one of them definitely had home-field advantage.

The Southside Place Police Department later shared the encounter, joking that officers never quite know what they may run into during a tour of duty. The bird species was not identified in the reporting, so we are simply calling this one thee feathered menace of Southside Place.
