NBC led its August 20 episode under the headline “Two aircraft collide, FBI raids Swalwell’s home,” with coverage of a deadly midair collision in Pennsylvania, the widening federal investigation involving former Rep. Eric Swalwell, and an alleged ISIS-inspired plot targeting the New York State Capitol in Albany.

New Video Shows the Deadly Pennsylvania Aircraft Collision
One of the night’s biggest stories centered on Carlisle Regional Airport in Pennsylvania, where a small Cessna 150 collided with a Pennsylvania State Police Bell 407 helicopter on Wednesday evening, August 19.
The state police helicopter had been conducting a training exercise near the airport when the collision occurred. The pilot of the small plane was killed, while two Pennsylvania State Police troopers aboard the helicopter survived with injuries. Newly surfaced video showed the moment the two aircraft came together as federal investigators began working to determine exactly how the crash happened.
It is the kind of footage that does not need any extra dramatic seasoning. The images are startling enough, and investigators had not yet announced a final cause as of the August 20 broadcast.
Federal Agents Seize Eric Swalwell’s Devices and Search His Home
The broadcast also turned to former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell, whose electronic devices were seized by federal agents at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday, according to NBC News and the Associated Press.
Agents then executed a search warrant at his Washington, D.C., home the following day. The actions are part of an ongoing investigation connected to sexual-misconduct allegations against Swalwell. He has denied allegations of sexual assault and misconduct.
Swalwell resigned from Congress earlier in 2026 after the allegations became public and also ended his campaign for California governor. The FBI has declined to publicly discuss details of the warrants, so the existence of the searches should not be treated as a finding of guilt or proof that charges will follow.
Authorities Say an Alleged New York Capitol Attack Was Foiled
Another major report came out of New York, where federal authorities announced the arrest of 35-year-old Jessica Bowie in what they described as an ISIS-inspired plot targeting the New York State Capitol in Albany.
According to the federal complaint, Bowie allegedly pledged allegiance to ISIS, conducted surveillance around the Capitol multiple times and discussed attacking the building and state lawmakers. Authorities say she bought materials and later accepted what she believed was an explosive device from an informant; the device was inert.
Bowie was arrested after the undercover operation and charged with attempting to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization. The allegations remain accusations, and the case now moves through federal court.
So yes: plane-and-helicopter collision, federal search warrants involving a former congressman, and an alleged Capitol bombing plot — all before the broadcast even gets a chance to exhale. This is why we said brain food, not comfort food.
