Lily Allen is one of our favorite Karl Lagerfeld muses, mostly because she likes to take a risk when it comes to fashion. Fortunately for us, one of said instances occurred on Saturday. The 29-year-old singer performed at the Rose Ball in Monaco wearing a custom-made pink velvet cloak with a standing, camellia-embellished collar, beneath which the fringed skirt of a sequined Chanel Couture dress floated out. Now that’s how you adhere to a theme while getting dressed.
The evening marked the 61st anniversary of the annual charity event, which was founded by Princess Grace of Monaco. As the Rose Ball’s artistic director, it seems fitting that Lagerfeld had a hand in conceptualizing both the party and Allen’s performance outfit. Attention-grabbing as the coat was, it was the slinky silver dress beneath it that really wowed us, which Allen accented with metallic eyelash extensions.
Chanel has posted some behind-the-scenes images to highlight the costume’s quieter, more intricate details. -via fashionista.com
