A Wrongly Accused Veteran Turns His Escape Into National Television
Liam Neeson is on thee run again—but The Mongoose gives his latest action fugitive a much bigger audience. In the official trailer, Neeson plays decorated combat veteran Ryan “Fang” Flanagan, a man accused of a crime he did not commit who refuses to surrender quietly.
Instead, Fang hits the road and leads law enforcement on a televised cross-country chase stretching from Kentucky toward the American Southwest. His former Special Forces brothers help from the outside, the police close in from every direction and a fascinated public begins cheering for his escape as though the entire manhunt were a national sporting event.
The trailer arrives with exactly the energy expected from a Liam Neeson action vehicle: engines screaming, helicopters circling, roadblocks forming and one extremely determined man explaining that being captured again is not an option. The difference is that Fang is not disappearing into the shadows. Every mile is being watched.

Marisa Tomei co-stars as Fang’s ex-wife, Tara, whose concern gradually turns into active support. She first urges him to give himself up, but the trailer later catches her delivering the only advice that matters once the chase reaches full speed: drive as fast as possible.
Ving Rhames plays Tanker, one of Fang’s fellow veterans, while Michael Chiklis appears as Pope, the law-enforcement officer charged with bringing the runaway hero in. The supporting cast also includes Marcus Thomas and Maurice Marvel Meredith, giving Fang allies, pursuers and plenty of people forced to decide whether the man behind the wheel is a dangerous fugitive or the victim of a larger setup.
The project marks the feature directing debut of Mark Vanselow, a veteran stunt professional and action-sequence director who has previously worked with Neeson on films including Blacklight, In the Land of Saints and Sinners and Absolution. That background is all over the trailer: the chase is treated as the story’s physical language rather than a few isolated bursts of spectacle.
Written by Thompson Evans, the film also reunites Neeson with Code Entertainment, the production company behind his Ice Road films. Neeson has built an entire second act of his career around men with particular sets of skills, but Fang carries an additional edge—a decorated veteran whose past captivity makes the possibility of being taken again feel worse than the road ahead.
The Mongoose was filmed across Melbourne and regional Victoria, with Australian locations standing in for the long American route. The production used the Melbourne Screen Hub as its base and brought Neeson back to Victoria for his third film in the region within four years.
The public-within-the-film may be rooting for Fang, but the trailer keeps the truth just out of reach. We know he insists he was framed. We know his military family believes him. What remains unclear is who wants him stopped, what really happened and whether “The Mongoose” is a destination, a plan or the name of the escape itself.
