Only Kylie Could Make This Unexpected Pairing Feel Completely Inevitable

Only Kylie Minogue can come flying in from left field, collaborate with somebody nobody expected and somehow make the pairing feel as though it had been waiting to happen all along.
Her latest surprise comes alongside Snow Patrol on the sweeping new single “These Alarms,” a duet that places Kylie’s unmistakable glow against the band’s widescreen melancholy—and yes, it works perfectly.
The official video captures the song’s debut performance at Crystal Palace Park in London, where Kylie appeared as a surprise guest during Snow Patrol’s sold-out headline show. Rather than build a separate studio fantasy around the track, the visual lets the live moment do all the talking: towering screens, open-air atmosphere and two very different musical worlds meeting in front of a massive crowd.

The collaboration has a fittingly unusual history. Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody originally wrote the song with Kylie in mind, and the band recorded an early version during sessions for its 2024 album The Forest Is the Path under the working title “KYLIE.” Rather than release it without her, they held the track back until the real Kylie could step into it.
That patience paid off. Lightbody’s weathered vocal and Kylie’s crystalline delivery do not compete for space; they circle one another, turning the song into something both intimate and stadium-sized. The collaboration is unexpected on paper, but emotionally it lands exactly where it should.
Kylie also joined the band for “Chasing Cars” during the Crystal Palace Park concert, giving the audience an additional crossover moment nobody walking through the gates that evening could have predicted.

It is another reminder that Kylie’s greatest superpower may be her ability to enter almost any musical space—dance, country, indie rock, synth-pop—and still sound completely, unmistakably herself.
