Kate Mara drops by Late Night With Seth Meyers to dish on birthday chaos, sisterly artistry, and her new Apple TV series “Imperfect Women.”

Actress extraordinaire Kate Mara drops by Late Night with Seth Meyers this week, and she arrives with one of the most unexpectedly charming celebrity birthday stories ever told.
She reveals that while settling into life in her new tiny East Coast town, she decided to celebrate her birthday by renting out a small local movie theater to screen Wuthering Heights with just a handful of friends. But hours before the event, the theater emailed her in a panic: a new employee had accidentally declined a request from Martha Stewart’s assistant, who wanted to rent the same theater that night.

Instead of causing chaos, Martha simply asked if she and her friend could crash Kate’s birthday party — promising to sit quietly in the back row. Kate, naturally, said yes. And just like that, Martha Stewart became the most unexpected guest at the most low‑key birthday screening in town. As Kate joked, her friends tried to take a subtle photo… and were so subtle they didn’t capture Martha at all.
Mara also opened up about working with her sister and fellow artisan thespian Rooney Mara on their first film together — the brilliantly titled “Bucking Fastard.” The sisters play characters who speak in unison, all under the direction of the legendary Werner Herzog, whose directing style Kate describes as uniquely hilarious and completely unforgettable.
And of course, Kate is promoting her latest project: “Imperfect Women,” premiering Wednesday, March 18th on Apple TV. The series stars Mara alongside Kerry Washington and Elisabeth Moss, delivering a twisty, perspective‑shifting mystery where no one is quite who they seem.
From Martha Stewart crashing movie night to Werner Herzog guiding the Mara sisters through synchronized dialogue, Kate’s visit is a delightful, chaotic, and thoroughly entertaining watch.
