Jen and Judy Head Toward One Final Beautifully Messy Goodbye

Jen and Judy have survived—and they are coming back for one final, gloriously messy misadventure. Netflix has set November 17, 2022 as the premiere date for the third and final season of Dead to Me, with Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini returning to finish the darkly funny friendship story that began with grief, a hit-and-run and one life-changing support-group meeting.
Netflix announced the date during its Tudum event alongside the first teaser, which recaps just enough of Jen and Judy’s escalating chaos before dropping them back into immediate trouble. The new season picks up after the pair were struck by a car driven by Ben Wood—played by James Marsden—leaving another accident, another secret and another possible disaster sitting directly in their path.

The series began with Jen mourning the hit-and-run death of her husband and meeting the relentlessly optimistic Judy at a grief group. Their friendship quickly became the beating heart of a story packed with lies, murder, twin brothers and enough badly buried evidence to keep both women permanently one conversation away from disaster.
The teaser finds Jen and Judy recovering in the hospital, still bruised but already snapping back into their familiar rhythm. Even with neck braces, police pressure and multiple seasons of secrets closing in, Applegate and Cardellini make the friendship feel like the one thing neither character is willing to surrender.
Created by Liz Feldman, Dead to Me became a breakout Netflix hit after its 2019 debut. Applegate earned an Emmy nomination for the first season, while both Applegate and Cardellini later competed in the lead comedy actress category for their work as Jen and Judy.
The final run is expected to answer what comes next after the crash, whether Jen and Judy can stay ahead of the truth and just how much more damage one fiercely loyal friendship can survive. With this pair, closure was never going to arrive quietly.
