Dexter Morgan Has Two Killers, Bad Eyes and a Midlife Crisis

He’s back and sharper than ever. Paramount+ has dropped the first official teaser for Dexter: Resurrection season 2 and set the new season for an October 30, 2026 premiere — because apparently Halloween weekend was not already suspicious enough.
Michael C. Hall returns as Dexter Morgan, and the teaser wastes very little time reminding us that his particular form of self-care still involves sharp objects. The roughly 40-second preview cuts between Dexter getting his eyes checked and preparing his tools, turning a routine vision exam into exactly the kind of dark joke this franchise has been making for two decades.

The setup for season 2 gives Dexter more than one problem to carve through. Paramount+ says he will find himself caught between two killers while also dealing with what may be his least glamorous adversary yet: a midlife crisis. Meanwhile, Harrison continues his own pursuit of justice as father and son move into what the official logline describes as their darkest chapter.
Dan Stevens and Brian Cox Enter Dexter’s New York Nightmare
The new season is adding some serious weight to Dexter’s already dangerous New York orbit. Dan Stevens joins as the New York Ripper, while Brian Cox steps in as the Five Borough Killer. That puts Dexter in the unusual position of being surrounded by men whose résumés may be even worse than his own.
Returning alongside Hall are Uma Thurman, Jack Alcott, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington and James Remar. After season 1 relocated Dexter to New York and pushed his relationship with Harrison into even darker territory, season 2 appears ready to keep the city pressure-cooker going rather than reset the board.
The timing is also very on-brand. Dexter first arrived on television in 2006, making this next chapter part of a franchise now entering its third decade. Somehow Dexter Morgan has survived Miami, New York, family trauma, police investigations, serial killers, bullets and multiple finales. Apparently the next great threat is reading the tiny print at the optometrist.
Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection begins streaming Friday, October 30 on Paramount+.
