Britney Turned “Ooh La La” Into a Full-On Family Smurf Moment

Re-post worthy: Britney Spears was straight-up poptastic with “Ooh La La,” her bombastic 2013 soundtrack single for The Smurfs 2.

The song originally arrived in June 2013, with Britney’s official music video following on July 11, 2013. And this one was especially sweet because it was not just another soundtrack tie-in — Britney recorded the song after saying her boys were completely obsessed with the Smurfs.

That family connection made it straight into the video, with Sean Preston and Jayden James appearing alongside their mom for a proper little Spears family cameo.

“Ooh La La” Was Basically Britney’s Gift to Her Boys

When Sony first announced the song, Britney explained that she had loved the Smurfs as a kid and that her sons were huge fans too. That was the reason she wanted to be part of the movie in the first place.

The track plays over the end credits of The Smurfs 2 and was written by a stacked pop team that included Dr. Luke, Ammo, Cirkut, Bonnie McKee, J Kash, Lola Blanc and Fransisca Hall.

The Video Is Peak Early-2010s Britney Fun

The video opens with Britney and her boys at the movies before she gets pulled into the Smurf world, where the whole thing turns into glossy, candy-colored pop fantasy.

It is playful, a little ridiculous, completely family-friendly and very much of its 2013 moment — which is exactly why it is worth digging out again.
