A lost, precious, tiny sea lion found itself confused and wandering along Oregon’s iconic Cannon Beach, drawing concern from beachgoers and wildlife teams alike. According to the Haystack Rock Awareness Program, the pup was spotted on the wet sands, attempting to return to the water but struggling to orient itself.

Thankfully, this story comes with a happy splash. Program directors from Haystack Rock Awareness reported that they were able to gently assist the little one back into the sea — where, as they joked, the pup could return to playing with Ariel and Moana. The rescue was a coordinated effort with support from the Seaside Aquarium and the Cannon Beach Police Department.

Staff on site used the moment to remind the public of an essential rule: Do not interfere with wildlife. If you encounter a stranded or distressed animal, call the non‑emergency line for the nearest police department or appropriate wildlife agency. Give them space, keep dogs away, and let trained responders handle the situation.

Dig out the far‑too‑cute, giggle‑inducing rescue moment below.
