Iggy Pop is an American singer, songwriter and performer whose work with The Stooges and as a solo artist helped lay the foundations of punk and alternative rock. Raised in Michigan, he fronted The Stooges through a ferocious late-1960s and early-1970s run before launching a solo career with David Bowie-produced albums The Idiot and Lust for Life in 1977. Songs including “The Passenger,” “Lust for Life,” “Real Wild Child” and “Candy” extended his influence across decades, while his confrontational stage presence became a template for generations of rock performers.
