Ashlee Simpson is an American singer-songwriter whose guitar-driven pop-rock became a defining part of the mid-2000s mainstream. Born in Waco, Texas, she moved to Los Angeles as a teenager and broke out with the 2004 album Autobiography and its hit “Pieces of Me.” Follow-up albums I Am Me and Bittersweet World produced songs including “Boyfriend,” “L.O.V.E.” and “Outta My Head.” She later returned to music in the duo Ashlee + Evan while her early catalog continued to earn Y2K-era reassessment.
