This evening, Alexander Skarsgård served bold, golden boy vibrations — when does he not, actually — at the Wicker screening during the BFI London Film Festival.
Mister Skarsgård strutted ten toes down in a metallic gold Saint Laurent suit, shirtless underneath, before finishing the whole thing with the pair nobody was going to ignore: transparent PVC lace-up oxfords from the house’s Spring 2027 menswear collection.

Those Saint Laurent Shoes Were the Whole Conversation
The suit was already doing plenty, but the see-through shoes pushed the look into full Skarsgård territory. Designed by Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2027, the transparent oxfords were shown sockless on the runway — a deliberately exposed take on classic men’s footwear that turns the foot itself into part of the styling.
And yes, he wore them exactly as intended: no socks, no visual escape hatch, just ten toes fully committed to the bit. The shoes had already caused conversation when they appeared on the Saint Laurent runway, and on a red carpet they somehow looked even more brazen.
‘Wicker’ Is Just as Offbeat as the Look
The fashion made sense for the film. Wicker, directed and written by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, stars Olivia Colman as an ostracized fisherwoman who commissions herself a husband from a local basketmaker, played by Peter Dinklage. Skarsgård is the resulting wicker husband, with Elizabeth Debicki also among the cast.
The BFI describes the 105-minute film as a wonderfully eccentric fable and, underneath all the absurdity, a gentle love story. Which makes a shirtless gold suit and transparent vinyl oxfords feel less like an unrelated fashion stunt and more like the correct energy for the evening.
