The Social Network Is Back — This Time the Whistleblower Gets the Spotlight

Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White are on a red-hot promo train ride, stopping by British daytime favorite This Morning on ITV to talk The Social Reckoning — Aaron Sorkin’s follow-up to The Social Network.
More than 15 years after Facebook’s rise became prestige-drama catnip, this chapter moves the story forward to the company’s 2021 leaks and fallout. Madison stars as Frances Haugen, the former Facebook employee who became a whistleblower, while White plays Jeff Horwitz, the Wall Street Journal reporter behind the reporting that became known as The Facebook Files.

Sorkin wrote the Oscar-winning screenplay for David Fincher’s 2010 original and returns here as both writer and director. Sony has described The Social Reckoning as a companion piece to The Social Network, with Jeremy Strong taking over the role of Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Burr also joining the cast.
Madison and White’s pairing is the big new center of gravity. Instead of another origin story, the film follows Haugen and Horwitz into the internal documents, reporting and consequences that put Facebook’s own research and decision-making under a microscope.

The film arrives in theaters on October 9, 2026, with the original movie’s startup mythology swapped for a story about what happened after the platform became too big for anyone to pretend it was just a college experiment anymore.
For now, Madison and White are doing the part every major release requires: sofa chats, promo stops and just enough teasing to keep the plot from spilling everywhere before opening weekend.
