Kelly Clarkson Is Saying Goodbye the Only Way She Knows How

It is officially bye-bye time for The Kelly Clarkson Show — but Miss Clarkson is not slipping quietly out the daytime-TV side door. The first look at the series finale has arrived, and naturally, Kelly is sending the show off with the thing that helped make the hour uniquely hers from day one: music.
The final episode airs Monday, August 31, closing out a seven-season run that began in 2019 and turned Clarkson from Grammy-winning pop powerhouse into one of daytime television’s most effortlessly personable hosts.

Appropriately titled the “By Request” hour, the finale leans heavily into the Kellyoke tradition that became one of the show’s signatures. Clarkson revisits several fan favorites, including “Since U Been Gone,” “Stronger,” “Piece by Piece” and “Didn’t I,” alongside covers of “Golden” and P!nk’s “Sober.”
And because Kelly apparently refuses to leave without giving us something brand sparkling new too, the episode also includes “I’d Be Lyin’,” her newest single, released July 17. The pop-rock track arrived during her latest Las Vegas Studio Sessions run and carries the kind of giant Clarkson chorus that has always sounded built for an actual stage.

The goodbye is not solely about the songs. Clarkson’s children, River and Remy, also appear in the finale, giving the closing hour an especially personal note after the singer explained earlier this year that stepping away from the daily show was the right move for her family and the next chapter of their lives.
That makes this finale feel less like some giant manufactured television spectacle and more like the logical ending for a show built around Clarkson herself: sing the songs people love, laugh, get a little emotional, bring the family in and then belt your way out of the building.
Seven seasons of celebrity interviews, good-neighbor surprises, completely unhinged games and hundreds upon hundreds of Kellyoke performances later, daytime is losing one of the rare hosts who could make a polished television hour feel like somebody had simply pulled up a chair and started talking.
The daytime chapter may be ending, but Kelly is not disappearing. She has continued releasing music and performing live, and she is also returning to The Voice. So consider August 31 less a farewell to Kelly Clarkson and more a farewell to the five-days-a-week version of her.
