By Thursday, authorities in Nepal and Tibet were reporting hundreds dead and more than 1,400 missing, including foreign tourists and pilgrims. The disaster struck near a heavily traveled route between Nepal and Tibet and left entire communities buried beneath mud and debris.

Yes, Trump Really Did Sign The Lake America Order
Elsewhere in the broadcast, President Donald Trump signed an executive order on August 27 directing the federal government to rename Lake Ontario as “Lake America.”
Important distinction: the order governs U.S. federal usage. It does not compel Canada, international bodies or private organizations to abandon the Lake Ontario name. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and New York Governor Kathy Hochul both rejected the change.
So yes, this is apparently where we are now: one of the Great Lakes has become part of a political naming fight during an already tense U.S.-Canada trade dispute.
Marine One’s Close Call Came Down To A Serious Communication Breakdown

According to the National Transportation Safety Board’s preliminary findings, air traffic controllers did not receive the standard three-minute warning before Marine One departed from a temporary White House-area location. A backup relay plan also failed, and an Envoy Air jet was cleared for takeoff as the presidential helicopter departed nearby.
Investigators later found that White House construction had contributed to radio line-of-sight problems. The FAA subsequently moved radio equipment to improve communications. Officials stressed that the president was not in immediate danger, but the incident raised fresh questions about coordination between military flights and civilian air traffic around one of the country’s busiest airports.
