Holiday Merch: Macy’s Is Starting The Holidays Early With 100 Years Of Parade Nostalgia

Need some very early-bird holiday merch ideas? Macy’s has officially entered the chat. The department-store giant is already rolling out its 100th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade collection months before November, turning a century of balloons, floats, characters and New York holiday chaos into a very collectible little shopping situation.
And this is not one lonely commemorative mug sitting in a corner of the website. Macy’s is building a full centennial shop around the milestone, with limited-edition apparel, accessories, ornaments, plush, books, bags and brand collaborations designed to let Parade obsessives take a piece of the celebration home.

The Varsity Jacket And Photo Book Are Built For Parade Diehards
Among the pieces already live is a 100th Thanksgiving Day Parade adult unisex varsity jacket, currently priced by Macy’s at $150, alongside the new Let’s Have a Parade: Celebrating 100 Macy’s Parades photo book by Kim Keller, a Macy’s-exclusive hardcover currently listed at $50.
There are also canvas totes covered in balloon-character patches, hoodies, blueprint graphics, pins, ornaments, socks and other pieces aimed directly at people who consider Thanksgiving morning television sacred holiday business. Translation: if someone in your family can identify a vintage Parade balloon by silhouette alone, Macy’s has found its customer.
Disney Brings Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey Into The Centennial
The biggest character moment so far belongs to Disney’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey. A brand-new balloon inspired by Mickey’s iconic Fantasia role will make its Parade debut this November, and Macy’s has already launched a corresponding limited-edition Disney capsule around him.
The early assortment includes a Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey plush, crewneck sweatshirt, throw blanket, Loungefly bag charm, Hallmark ornament, children’s costume set, play tent and even a glow-in-the-dark necklace. Disney says the wider 2026 collection is also pulling from the history of its Parade balloons, with more merchandise arriving in Macy’s stores and online later this fall.
That history runs deep. Mickey Mouse first appeared as a balloon in the Macy’s Parade in 1934, and Disney is using the 2026 centennial to look backward and forward at the same time — resurrecting balloon nostalgia while giving Sorcerer Mickey a brand-new trip through Manhattan.

And Macy’s Is Not Stopping With Mickey
The centennial shop goes well beyond Disney. Macy’s says its anniversary collaborations include names such as Apotheke, Carolina Herrera, Citizen, Clinique, Crocs, Effy, Estée Lauder, Hallmark, Jo Malone, Levi’s, Lenox, Loungefly, MacKenzie-Childs, Marvel, Michael Aram, Michael Kors, Peanuts, Pixar, Sanrio, Tarte and Waterford.
There is also a brand-new 2026 character called Billie Brightpaw, a bear balloon created specifically for the 100th Parade. Macy’s has already turned Billie into plush toys, tote bags, pins, notebooks and ornaments, because apparently no balloon is truly official until it has been merchandised six ways by August.
The parade itself will celebrate the milestone with a record-breaking 100 inflatable elements, including the new Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey, the return of Underdog for the first time since 1984, and appearances from familiar characters including Bullwinkle J. Moose, Olive Oyl, Popeye, Swee’Pea and Sonic the Hedgehog.
So yes, it is still summer. Yes, Thanksgiving is months away. And yes, Macy’s has already managed to make us think about varsity jackets, Mickey balloons and a coffee-table book full of Parade history. Huzzah-hurrah for thee early holiday shoppers.

The smart move here is probably not to wait until Thanksgiving week. Macy’s is calling this the first drop, with additional anniversary merchandise still to come, which means the 100th Parade Shop is likely to get much bigger before the balloons ever reach Herald Square.
