Claire Rosinkranz Is Making Pop-Rock Feel Loose and Cool Again
Claire Rosinkranz traveled to Apple Music Radio’s The Travis Mills Show to showcase that moody, pretty pop-rocker chicness of hers with a special rendition of “City.”
And yes, we are still calling it: Claire is one of the young artists helping spearhead a nu wave pop/rocker scene that feels less interested in cosplay and more interested in bringing guitars, melody and personality back into the center of pop.
If Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, Fefe Dobson, Kim Wilde, Mary Weiss of The Shangri-Las and Taylor Momsen had a moonchild, it might just be Claire.

“City” Is One of the Clearest Windows Into Claire’s Current Era
“City” opens Claire’s 2026 album My Lover, and it makes sense as the song to bring into a stripped-back radio setting. The track lives in that sweet spot between breezy pop instinct and something more guitar-driven and emotionally restless.
That balance is what has made Claire interesting since her breakout years. She can write something immediately catchy without sanding away the odd little details that make it sound like her.
The Comparisons Are Retro — But Claire Does Not Sound Stuck There
The Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne comparisons are obvious entry points because Claire understands how to make a guitar sit inside a pop song without turning the whole thing into a rock costume.
But there is also some of Kim Wilde’s cool detachment, some girl-group melodrama in the DNA, and flashes of the harder-edged attitude artists like Fefe Dobson and Taylor Momsen brought to their own lanes.
Claire’s trick is that none of those references swallow her. She is not recreating 2003 or 1981. She is pulling from those eras while still sounding like somebody who came of age inside modern alt-pop.
This Is the Pop-Rock Middle Ground We Keep Asking For
Not indie rock pretending it has no pop ambitions. Not a mainstream pop single with one token guitar buried in the mix. Not a “rock era” announced by wardrobe.
Just songs with hooks, guitars, mood and enough roughness around the edges to feel alive.
That is where “City” works best, and why Claire continues to feel like one of the more convincing young artists pushing pop-rock forward without making a big speech about saving it.
