The seminal actor and environmentalist bonded with Goodall over their shared passion for the planet. Their friendship spanned years of advocacy, including joint appearances as United Nations Messengers of Peace and collaborations on conservation efforts.
Following the news of her passing, DiCaprio took to his socials to honor her legacy with a heartfelt tribute:
“Today we have lost a true hero for the planet, an inspiration to millions, and a dear friend,” the Oscar winner wrote. “Jane Goodall devoted her life to protecting our planet and giving a voice to the wild animals and the ecosystems they inhabit. He concluded:
