INYIM Media "Back To The Future" Edition: Salutes Brandy Revealing 90s Classic 'Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella' Heading To Disney+
"It's possible! Brandy united with her Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella co-star Whoopi Goldberg on The View Thursday (Feb. 4) to announce that the movie will be available on Disney+ this month. This marks the 1997 musical TV film's first time being available on streaming services since it premiered during The Wonderful World of Disney on ABC on Nov. 2, 1997, 24 years ago. Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella was nominated for seven Emmy Awards in 1998, including outstanding variety, music or comedy special. It won for outstanding art direction for a variety or music program."Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella is premiering on Disney+ on Friday, Feb. 12. And I'm so excited!" Brandy exclaimed. "We can celebrate and share and inspire a whole new generation to see this wonderful piece."Goldberg, who played Queen Constantina, reflected on the multicultural cast of the show. And Brandy, who became the first Black Disney princess in 1997, cherished the Fairy Godmother and her "childhood icon" Whitney Houston's decision to cast her for the main role."To be cast as the first Black princess in a multicultural cast and first artist telling this amazing, iconic story, it was. ... At the time, I didn't really grasp it all because my dreams were coming true at the same time," Brandy recalled. "But the impact that it had on me and the lives of so many families and girls that look like me, it was just unbelievable."Brandy told Billboard last year during the release of her album b7 about the advice she had for Halle Bailey of Chloe x Halle, who was cast as Ariel in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid."I think she needs to understand that she has everything that it takes to do everything that she's meant to do. I think that she needs to keep positive people around her and to also stay positive and to not live her life for anyone but herself," the "Borderline" singer said. "I believe that her staying true to herself is the reason why she's in a great position to do all of the things that she's meant to do. And I think that she's such a positive role model already."Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella will be available on Disney+ next Friday, Feb. 12. The 1997 classic princess film will join the streaming service's "Celebrate Black Stories" collection with other films such as Soul, Beyoncé's Black Is King, and Black Panther.Watch Brandy announce the magical news on The View below." - Billboard.comBrandy told Billboard last year during the release of her album b7 about the advice she had for Halle Bailey of Chloe x Halle, who was cast as Ariel in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid."I think she needs to understand that she has everything that it takes to do everything that she's meant to do.
