Nineteen Months Later, the Yellowjackets Are Finally Coming Home
The Wiskayok Yellowjackets are finally heading home. Paramount+ has set Friday, November 20, 2026 for the premiere of the fourth and final season of Yellowjackets — and it announced the date with exactly the sort of deeply ’90s callback this show loves.
Enter Kurt Loder. The veteran music journalist and former MTV News anchor turns up inside the eerie new date-announcement teaser as reports begin breaking that the long-missing Yellowjackets have been found. Yes, after years of watching the teenage timeline get progressively more feral, rescue is finally staring us in the face. Whether anybody is emotionally prepared for what comes after is a completely different matter.

The teaser opens like a bank of old television sets suddenly hijacked by breaking news. Broadcasts begin reporting that the team has been located, before the signal lands on Loder delivering an MTV News-style update about search-and-rescue teams in Canada. It is a neat payoff to a marketing gag Yellowjackets has been playing with for years.
Back in March 2023, Showtime released a full retro MTV News promo starring Loder, then framed as a 1996 report on the still-missing Wiskayok soccer team. The campaign used de-aging technology to drop present-day Loder into a period-accurate MTV News broadcast, complete with VHS grime, mid-’90s graphics and references to Alanis Morissette and mad cow disease. Three years later, the final-season rollout gets to deliver the update that old promo never could: they found them.
There is also a very Yellowjackets coincidence hiding in the calendar. Season three wrapped on April 11, 2025, meaning the show will return a little more than 19 months later. The teenage survivors, of course, are known to have spent roughly 19 months stranded in the wilderness before their rescue. Somebody in marketing absolutely saw that parallel and smiled.
The timing is especially delicious because season three ended with the wilderness timeline finally making real contact with the outside world. Teen Natalie had gotten hold of a satellite phone and managed to get a signal out, pushing the series toward the rescue viewers have known was coming since the very first episode.
What Yellowjackets Season 4 Is Setting Up
Paramount+ says the survivors will be racing to bury their sins before rescue arrives, while an “old flame” comes roaring back into town with plans of her own. The streamer’s warning is perfectly on brand: not every homecoming is joyous, and “this one’s going to sting.”
The final season brings back Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, Nia Sondaya, Jenna Burgess and Hilary Swank. New additions include Molly Ringwald and June Squibb, giving an already stacked cast a little more trouble to work with before the doors close.
Creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson had once discussed a longer runway for the series, but they ultimately decided season four was where the story wanted to end. That makes the homecoming more than another milestone in the mystery. We are finally moving toward the part Yellowjackets has been teasing from the beginning: what these girls did to survive, what they told everyone afterward and how the hell any of them walked back into normal life pretending the wilderness stayed behind.
Four seasons of symbols, antlers, secrets, questionable meals and extremely unhealthy friendship dynamics have been leading here. The Yellowjackets are coming home. Somehow that sounds less comforting than when they were lost.
