A Fairytale Garden Put Thom Browne’s Precision Tailoring in Flight

Thom Browne unleashed his whimsical Spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection at New York Fashion Week on September 15, 2026, closing the week inside The Shed with a fairytale world of nature and precision tailoring.
The cavernous Hudson Yards venue became a grassy garden built for metamorphosis. Browne’s familiar uniforms did not simply walk the lawn; they sprouted wings, shells, antennae and segmented shapes until the gray suit looked ready to crawl away from the office on its own.
And yes, A Bug’s Life is part of the family tree. Browne told GQ that his Spring 2027 menswear story in Milan “started from” the 1998 Pixar film. The New York women’s collection extended that entomological thread, filtering the insect world through the house codes of strict tailoring, school-uniform proportions, pleated skirts, elongated coats and shrunken jackets.

The creatures arrived in full, glorious formation. A red-and-black ladybug silhouette swelled into a spotted shell. Another rounded look translated an insect into blocks of blue, yellow, black and white, while a green-and-yellow cocoon shape framed the body in Browne’s exacting geometry. Elsewhere, a white ribbed sheath read like an exoskeleton; a pale plaid coat appeared overtaken by garden growth; and a long black dress carried a colorful anatomical bug graphic down its front.
These were not insect costumes pasted over tailoring. The tailoring became the insect: armored shoulders, cinched carapace-like waists, pleats suggesting movement and repeated shapes moving through the collection like a highly organized swarm. That tension between discipline and absurdity is pure Browne — the uniform stays recognizable even after the fable has completely taken over.

The best part is how the collection lets whimsy and control coexist. Browne’s insects are ornamental but architectural, fragile-looking but hard-shelled. On a runway devoted to metamorphosis, the clothes keep changing character without abandoning the meticulous construction underneath.
The two INYIM Media TikTok edits bring that transformation into motion, moving from the sculptural bug gowns to the garden-grown tailoring that closed New York Fashion Week on unmistakably Thom Browne terms.
