Alex And Bradley Have One Final News Cycle Left To Survive

All good things must come to an end—and The Morning Show is preparing its final broadcast.
Apple TV has confirmed that the media drama starring and executive produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon will conclude with its upcoming fifth season. The last chapter is scheduled to arrive in 2027, although a specific premiere date has not yet been announced.
The decision was not dropped on the creative team after the cameras stopped rolling. Aniston says the cast and producers entered season five knowing it would be the end, allowing them to build a deliberate conclusion for Alex Levy, Bradley Jackson and the complicated newsroom family surrounding them.

The Series Helped Launch Apple’s Streaming Ambitions In 2019
The Morning Show debuted alongside Apple’s streaming service in November 2019, immediately positioning itself as one of the platform’s marquee originals. What began with the collapse of a powerful morning-TV institution after a sexual-misconduct scandal quickly expanded into a glossy, chaotic examination of journalism, celebrity, corporate power and the increasingly unstable line between reporting the news and becoming part of it.
Across four seasons, the series has folded real-world anxieties into its heightened newsroom universe: workplace abuse, the pandemic, political unrest, media consolidation, artificial intelligence, deepfakes and the price of protecting—or manipulating—the truth.
The show has never been shy about going gloriously over the top, but underneath the private jets, executive betrayals and live-television meltdowns has always been a serious argument about why journalism matters.
Jennifer Aniston Says The Ending Was Built With Intention
Aniston says the final-season knowledge gave the team the rare opportunity to close the series on purpose rather than leave its characters trapped inside an accidental cliffhanger. After years of stories reflecting the world through the show’s signature dark humor, the production could decide where each major relationship, rivalry and professional reckoning needed to land.
That matters for a series that has spent so much time reinventing its own power structure. Alex and Bradley have moved between allies, enemies, anchors, whistleblowers and reluctant protectors of one another—sometimes within the same episode. A planned ending gives their bond one last chance to become the emotional center of the newsroom chaos rather than another casualty of it.
Reese Witherspoon Says The Newsroom Was Always The Point
Witherspoon describes her nine years acting in and producing the series as a defining creative experience. For her, The Morning Show was never simply about the people sitting behind a glossy anchor desk—it was about the press, the fourth estate and the journalists who absorb real personal costs while trying to protect it.
That idea should give season five its clearest possible final question: after years of compromising, exposing, bargaining and surviving, what do these characters still believe the truth is worth?
The Final Season Is Bringing Back Familiar Faces And Adding More
Alongside Aniston and Witherspoon, the returning ensemble is expected to include Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm.
The final run is also expanding its already crowded newsroom orbit with Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan. Daniels will recur as Lukas, a self-made billionaire and founder of a prominent investment firm—which sounds exactly like the sort of person this show introduces moments before a corporate earthquake.
Charlotte Stoudt remains the showrunner, with Mimi Leder continuing as director and executive producer. The creative team now has one final season to decide who leaves the newsroom with power, who leaves with their integrity and who gets caught live on air doing something absolutely unhinged.
The Morning Show Season 5 Will Premiere In 2027
The fifth and final season will debut on Apple TV in 2027. No exact date or first trailer has been released yet.
For now, the headline is official: after five seasons of breaking news, broken alliances and beautiful people making catastrophic executive decisions, The Morning Show is preparing to sign off on its own terms.
