Dig out Stefan Cooke’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection entitled Oh Vienna! — a beautifully sideways trip through childhood memory, Austrian family history and all the little coded fashion signatures Cooke keeps finding new ways to twist.

The Vienna part is personal. Cooke has said the collection started with thoughts of his Viennese mother and memories of staying in Austria as a teenager, where train sets, craft boxes and family-made objects lodged themselves somewhere deep enough to reappear years later as fashion.

Not literally, thank goodness. This is not dirndl dress-up or postcard Austria. It is memory after it has had time to get weird.

Across the collection, familiar Stefan Cooke ideas are nudged into new territory. Narrow tailoring and high armholes sit against workwear trousers panelled with antique silks, while cropped outerwear and shell-suit shapes drag a very specific 1980s energy into the room without letting nostalgia swallow the clothes whole.

There are merino riffs on American football tops, nylon windbreakers, leather skirts slit front and back, suiting wools, old tuxedo silks and flashes of 1950s prints. One vintage fireman’s leather jacket gets hacked down into a vest; elsewhere, mannequin arms become shoulder pieces. It sounds chaotic written out. On the clothes, the whole thing clicks into Cooke’s precise little universe of utility, humor and obsessive making.

Then come the accessories, where the childhood-memory thread turns delightfully literal. A collaboration with London arts project Faimann transforms mid-century toys and old wooden tools into jewelry, while a painted piece of toy train track becomes a necklace — another sly echo of Cooke’s much-loved cross-hatched argyle language.

Selected looks from Stefan Cooke’s Spring/Summer 2027 Oh Vienna! collection.

From Austrian memory to antique silks, narrow tailoring and playful craft, Oh Vienna! still lands unmistakably Stefan Cooke — personal, precise and just strange enough.
