Ali G Returns, and This Time the World Is the Setup
Oh boy-oh-boy. He’s baaack. Sacha Baron Cohen has dragged Ali G back into the present day, and the first trailer for Ali G: Who Iz I? makes one thing very clear: this is not simply Ali G Indahouse part two with a fresh coat of paint.
The new Amazon MGM Studios comedy adopts the mockumentary setup Cohen perfected with Borat and Brüno, putting Ali G back among real people rather than a fully scripted cast and letting the character collide with modern America, current culture and anyone unlucky enough to take the interview seriously.

Twenty-four years after Indahouse, Sacha Baron Cohen is sending Ali G back into the real world — and this time he is directing the chaos himself.

The setup finds Ali G shocked to learn that his longtime girlfriend Julie is eight months pregnant. Faced with the prospect of supporting a child, he heads to America to reclaim his former glory — naturally creating an entirely new set of problems in the process.
Morgana Robinson takes over the role of Julie, while Cohen writes, produces, stars and makes his feature-length directorial debut. The movie was shot largely in secret, keeping with the undercover production style behind some of his most notorious character work.
The trailer leans straight into Cohen’s old formula with a 2026 update: Ali G interviewing unsuspecting people, stumbling into conversations about politics, technology, TikTok and American culture, all while behaving as though absolutely none of this could possibly backfire.
The character first appeared on The 11 O’Clock Show in 1998 before graduating to Da Ali G Show and the 2002 feature Ali G Indahouse. So while Ali G has popped up occasionally over the years, Who Iz I? marks his first new feature film in 24 years.
Ali G: Who Iz I? hits cinemas on October 23, 2026. Judging by the trailer, subtlety has not been invited back.
