Lanzarote’s Stillness Gives A Rising Model Room To Command
Fresh-faced model Teo Abihdana finds power in stillness for DSCENE Magazine, stepping into the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote for the cover story “The Island Holds Still.”
Photographed by Moïse Mbarga-Abega, the editorial appears inside DSCENE’s Design Under Pressure issue, which examines how artists, designers and public figures protect their creativity while facing the nonstop demand to produce, perform and remain visible.
For Teo’s story, that pressure meets its opposite. Lanzarote’s black volcanic terrain, pale light and stretched horizon create a visual world where urgency seems to disappear, leaving the model, the clothes and the landscape to hold the frame without unnecessary noise.

The cover look brings together a Songzio jacket, Loro Piana vest and Issey Miyake Man trousers, layering sharp construction with softer movement. Against the island’s severe natural textures, the styling reads polished without becoming overly precious.
Teo, represented by Success Models, gives the clothes an assured but unforced presence. There is no frantic posing or obvious battle for attention. His posture remains measured, allowing small shifts in expression and silhouette to carry the editorial’s emotional weight.
Juan Areizaga leads art direction, with styling by Sanya Batra, grooming by Jaime Hernandez and casting by Fernando Herbert. Production comes from Gabriel Franco of Barbatana Pictures, with Studio Volca serving as local producer.
The creative team uses Lanzarote as more than an attractive backdrop. Its volcanic surfaces and wide, quiet spaces become part of the issue’s central question: what remains when the pressure to constantly move, publish and perform is briefly removed?
The answer, at least here, is clarity. Teo’s cover story does not need spectacle to create tension. Light, landscape and a rising model fully aware of the camera are enough to make the island feel very still—and the fashion impossible to overlook.
