Ten Years Later, Kusama Covered Louis Vuitton in Infinity Again

The Second Collaboration Pushes Beyond the Polka Dots
The original Louis Vuitton x Yayoi Kusama collaboration arrived in 2012. A decade later, the 2023 return feels less like a simple reprise and more like the Maison reopening the door to Kusama’s larger visual world.
The house said the collection would explore not only her famous dots but also other recurring symbols from her work, translating them onto Louis Vuitton pieces while keeping the artist’s hypnotic sense of repetition intact.
A Fashion Collaboration Built Around Kusama’s Own Visual Language
That is what makes the project work: the Louis Vuitton signatures are still there, but they are pulled into Kusama’s orbit rather than simply decorated around the edges.
Her dots have always been more than surface pattern. Across painting, sculpture and installation, repetition becomes scale, atmosphere and a way of dissolving the boundaries between object, room and viewer. Fashion gives that language another moving surface.
