kolor SS27 Turns The Alien Question Into Wearable Weirdness
kolor Spring/Summer 2027 has entered the chat with the kind of controlled chaos that makes a runway feel alive: familiar suiting knocked slightly off-axis, flashes of sharp color, utility details, Western references, and a bigger idea underneath the styling.
For SS27, creative director Taro Horiuchi continued shaping a new chapter for the Japanese label with a collection titled Aliens. The concept was not about little green creatures from outer space. It was about the people around us — neighbours, families, lovers, strangers, and even ourselves — and the distance that can exist between one person and another.
What makes the collection sing is how that idea lands in the clothes. Business tailoring comes slightly disrupted through skewed necklines, surplus buttons, layered construction, and standout triple-breasted blazers. Pinstripes share space with saturated color hits, while practical details keep the more surreal moments from floating away.
There is also a playful Western streak running through the lineup, from cowboy boots with Vibram soles to yoke details and turquoise-inspired accessories. The result feels familiar and strange at once — exactly where kolor tends to work best.
That is the sweet spot here: not weird for weird’s sake, but wearable tension. Tailoring, sportswear, utility, graphic interruption, and runway humor all keep bumping into each other until the pieces start to feel like a conversation about identity in motion.
