Inspired by the archival “Kenzo Work & Play” label, Nigo brings varsity style, Ivy League staples, utility dressing and Japanese craft traditions into one relaxed wardrobe.

INYIM Designer Edit

Kenzo makes workwear, campus style and craft live in the same closet.

Nigo revisits the Work & Play archive through varsity jackets, chore coats, carpenter trousers, denim aprons and Japanese garden motifs.

The title of the archival label says everything: Work & Play. Rather than separating formal clothes, campus style and practical workwear into different worlds, Nigo treats them like pieces collected across one life.

Varsity jackets sit beside chore coats. Carpenter trousers share space with lighter tailoring. Denim, plaid, corduroy, camouflage and soft knits move in and out of the same layered looks.

The result feels like a wardrobe built over time rather than a collection arranged around one strict occasion. Each look carries a different reference, but the pieces still appear comfortable living together.

Abas Abdirazaq and Max Fauviau model the collection through paint-splattered interiors, doorways and lived-in rooms that make the clothes feel personal rather than overly staged.

One look layers a tan canvas chore jacket over plaid flannel and carpenter trousers. Another places a light-wash trucker jacket over a long denim apron, pushing a practical workshop piece directly into everyday styling.

Varsity references appear through embroidered jackets, graphic sweaters, rugby polos and caps, while Ivy League codes surface in pleated trousers, oxford shirts, loafers and unstructured coats.

Nigo keeps the categories fluid. Camouflage appears beside cable knits. Floral motifs are worked into outerwear and totes. Utility jackets meet soft tailoring, while ceramic and garden references bring a quieter Japanese craft influence into the collection.

The strongest looks are the ones that feel slightly unexpected: a pinstripe suit under a quilted floral puffer, a denim apron layered into a full indigo outfit, or carpenter trousers worn with polished loafers.

Kenzo Pre-Spring 2027 is less interested in dressing for one specific place than in building a wardrobe that can move between all of them.

Work, play, school, workshop, garden or city street—the collection keeps the rules loose and lets personal expression decide where each piece belongs.
