Five Faces Give Marc Medina’s Tunisia Story Its Northern Pulse

Five models, two very different Tunisian locations and one menswear story with enough texture to keep the eye moving. Generation M brings together Farouk Bououni, Lassad Said, Louai Fatmi, Sami Lakouait and Selim Chebbi for an exclusive FY Magazine! editorial photographed by Marc Medina and styled by Anna Barr.
The shoot moves between Tunis and Tozeur-Nefta, giving the story room to shift its mood without losing the cast at the center of it. Rather than forcing one narrow menswear idea across the entire sequence, Barr works with a broad mix of labels and lets the styling change pace from frame to frame.

The wardrobe credits stretch across Sasio by Seyd Dean Laouti, La Collection Nationale, JW Anderson, Andrea Crews, AA Spectrum, Stampd, Pawaka, Jerih, Fadhila and Berhasm. It is an unusually wide label mix, which suits an editorial built around movement between locations rather than a single-brand campaign language.
There is also a very specific 2019 fashion-week context behind the project. The photographs were produced with support from the Tunisian National Tourist Office and Fashion Week Tunis 2019, whose 11th edition took place that June at the Amphitheatre of Carthage. The editorial lands just after that run of shows, carrying the energy of the event outward into a broader menswear story.
What works best here is the cast. Bououni, Said, Fatmi, Lakouait and Chebbi are presented as a group without being flattened into one repeated pose or one identical styling formula. The title Generation M gives the editorial its banner, but Medina and Barr leave enough space for the individual faces, proportions and clothes to register on their own.
The Tunisia setting does the rest of the work quietly. With Tunis and Tozeur-Nefta both in play, the story has scale without turning the locations into tourist props. The fashion remains the reason for the frame, while the geography gives the sequence a rhythm that a studio-only shoot would not have had.

One image gives you the setup. The full sequence makes the case: Generation M is less about one hero look than the way the cast, wardrobe and changing Tunisian backdrop keep pushing against one another. That is where the editorial gets its personality.
