Sculpted Tailoring and Theatrical Proportions Put Owen Ruppersburg Center Stage
Fresh-Faced Model Owen Ruppersburg steps into A Grand Gesture for Icon America Issue No. 03, photographed by Sølve Sundsbø and styled by Anders Sølvsten Thomsen in a spring fashion story built around dramatic layering, sculpted tailoring, and proportions designed to command the frame.
The title captures the scale of the editorial. A Grand Gesture treats spring dressing as performance, using architectural collars, oversized layers, shaped outerwear, formal references, and exaggerated silhouettes to turn each look into something larger than everyday wardrobe.
Sølve Sundsbø photographs Owen with the clean precision and controlled experimentation that define his strongest fashion work. The uncluttered setting keeps the focus on silhouette, expression, and the way fabric changes shape as Owen moves through each frame.
The styling by Anders Sølvsten Thomsen plays with the codes of classic menswear without keeping them polite. Tailoring becomes sculptural, collars become focal points, and layers are arranged for shape and impact rather than simple practicality.
Owen Ruppersburg gives the clothes the physical commitment they need. His posture shifts from severe and composed to loose and expressive, allowing the editorial to move between formal portraiture and full fashion theater without losing its center.
Hair by Syd Hayes and makeup by Bea Sweet support the transformation without distracting from Owen’s features. The finish remains polished, while set design by Max Bellhouse gives the shapes enough open space to register clearly.
For Icon America Issue No. 03, the story presents spring fashion at its most deliberate: bold in proportion, exact in construction, and fully aware that sometimes the strongest style move is the grandest one.
