ERL Sends Venice Beach Prep Into A Pink Paris Daydream

Eli Russell Linnetz knows how to make American fashion feel like a movie still: sun-faded, slightly surreal, and loaded with character before anyone says a word. For ERL Spring/Summer 2027, the Venice Beach designer brings that instinct back to Paris with a collection that blurs East Coast prep, West Coast surf/skate ease, and the kind of hazy nostalgia that makes a simple polo or pair of shorts feel like part of a bigger personal mythology.
Presented during the Spring/Summer 2027 menswear season, the collection moves through a fictionalized memory of Martha’s Vineyard, then bends it through Linnetz’s own California lens. The result is not polished country-club cosplay. It is prep after the beach, prep after the road trip, prep that found a sunburn, a neon flash, and a little beautiful trouble on the way home.
The strongest ERL moments here live in the collision. Tartan suiting, madras checks, Oxford shirts, polos, and relaxed tailoring carry the East Coast side of the story, while graphic sweats, relaxed denim, skate-ready shapes, surf-coded ease, and hits of neon pull everything back toward Venice Beach. The clothes feel lived-in on purpose, softened like souvenirs from a summer that was half real and half remembered.

There are plenty of details for the INYIM fashion eye to chew on: rose-printed tailoring, patchworked madras sets, matching boxers, hand-finished knits, acid-washed denim, beach bags, caps, loafers, and canvas sneakers that look intentionally worn down by time instead of styled into stiffness. That weathered finish is key. ERL is at its best when the fantasy still feels like it has sand in the seams.
For Season 14, Linnetz continues to sharpen the ERL proposition without sanding off the weirdness. The collection is American archetype as emotional costume: familiar shapes, remixed memories, and that California optimism that refuses to sit still. It is preppy, yes. But it is also sun-drunk, cinematic, and just off-center enough to make the whole thing hum.
