The Ballroom Is Turning Into a Very ’90s Reunion

This upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars just got considerably spicier — and apparently somebody in casting has been raiding our late-’90s and early-2000s DVD shelf.
Julia Stiles and Tatyana Ali are among the latest names expected to hit the ballroom for Season 35, according to production-source reports. Separate reports also have Jenna Dewan and Bachelor Nation favorite Tyler Cameron preparing to compete when the ABC juggernaut returns this fall.

Stiles is easily one of the more delicious casting possibilities. The 10 Things I Hate About You favorite already has one of cinema’s most famous dance-movie credits thanks to Save the Last Dance, and she has openly talked about being a serious DWTS fan. In a 2025 interview, Stiles called the show her version of “Monday Night Football” and admitted she falls down YouTube rabbit holes watching old routines and favorite choreographers.
So if she really does walk onto that floor, this is not some celebrity who vaguely remembers the show exists because her publicist forwarded an email. She has been watching.
Then there is Tatyana Ali, forever Ashley Banks to an entire generation of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air viewers. Her possible casting also gives Season 35 a cute built-in reunion angle: former Fresh Prince co-star Alfonso Ribeiro is now one of the show’s hosts — and, lest we forget, a former Mirrorball champion himself.
Jenna Dewan would enter with a very different kind of pressure. Before Step Up turned her into a movie star, Dewan worked professionally as a dancer, including gigs with Janet Jackson and other major pop acts. Ballroom is its own beast, but there will be absolutely nowhere for the “but she can already dance!” discourse to hide if she joins. The comment sections are stretching as we speak.
And then there is Tyler Cameron, the Bachelorette alum, model and contractor who already arrives with the kind of built-in fanbase that can keep a contestant alive while the judges are still trying to explain heel leads. Cameron would also continue Bachelor Nation’s very long relationship with the ballroom.
Who Is Officially Confirmed for Dancing with the Stars Season 35?
While the latest celebrity names are arriving through entertainment-industry reports, ABC has already officially announced several Season 35 contestants. Maura Higgins of Love Island and The Traitors, Ciara Miller of Summer House, Savannah Bananas player and social personality Jackson Olson, and Guillermo Rodriguez of Jimmy Kimmel Live! are all confirmed for the new season.
Guillermo is also part of the first officially revealed celebrity-pro pairing: he will dance with reigning champion Witney Carson. Carson won Season 34 alongside Robert Irwin and is returning while pregnant with her third child, making that pairing one of the season’s more immediately intriguing combinations.
ABC is holding the full celebrity cast and professional pairings for a September 2 reveal on Good Morning America, which means there is still a little room between “industry sources say yes” and “ABC has put the name card on television.” We will take the rumors with our coffee, but we are keeping the labels straight until then.
Season 35 kicks off with a two-night premiere September 15 and 16 on ABC and Disney+, with episodes available to stream the following day on Hulu. Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough return as co-hosts, while Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli are expected back at the judges’ table.
After the ratings surge of Season 34, the show clearly is not easing into its next chapter. It is tossing movie stars, reality favorites, nostalgic casting, actual dance experience and Guillermo into a blender and hitting cha-cha.
We’ll keep updating as the ballroom doors keep opening. But Julia Stiles, Tatyana Ali, Jenna Dewan and hottie mctottie Tyler Cameron all circling the same season? Suddenly September feels very far away.
