DAGGER Turned Bored Skate Kids Into A Berlin Fashion Week Mood

DAGGER’s Spring/Summer 2027 show brings seaside skate kids, romantic boredom, early-2000s youth culture, and customised Vans Slip-Ons to Berlin Fashion Week with scraped-knee softness and attitude.

DAGGER returned to Berlin Fashion Week with a Spring/Summer 2027 collection that looks back toward the coastal seaside town of designer Luke Rainey’s youth — the kind of place where skate culture, teenage chaos, and summer freedom all know each other by name.

The collection, titled Lifestyles of the Bored and Disenfranchised, traces the early-2000s skate scene that shaped Rainey’s teenage years and turns it into something warmer, more romantic, and still properly scraped at the knees. Not polished nostalgia. More like the memory of a hot night that got out of hand and somehow still looked good by sunrise.

DAGGER’s Skate-Romance Summer

FY Magazine frames the season around teenage firsts, fairground lights, beach-town parties, and that first real warmth of summer — when the future starts looking possible, even if the present is still messy as ever. The collection continues the cast of characters introduced in DAGGER’s previous Play Hard chapter, letting them grow instead of pretending everything has to be brand new.

That is where the charm lands. DAGGER’s codes are still rooted in DIY spirit, skate culture, resilience, denim, graphics, and worn-in youth, but SS27 softens the edges without sanding away the attitude. The romance is not precious. It is bruised, sun-warmed, a little loud, and absolutely alive.

There is also a proper footwear moment. Vans joined the show again, bringing customised Slip-Ons reworked for the runway. It makes sense: if DAGGER is building a world around rebellious seaside kids and skate-scene memory, the shoes better look like they can survive the pavement.

Berlin Fashion Week’s own brand notes describe DAGGER as a Berlin-based label founded by Rainey in 2020, rooted in his rebellious youth in Northern Ireland and built around DIY resilience. That background gives this collection its bite. The clothes are not just dressing a mood; they are carrying a whole backstory in the seams.

DAGGER’s Berlin show feels like a love letter to the kids who were never waiting for permission: the ones building identity out of boredom, salt air, skate shoes, cheap thrills, and whatever softness managed to survive the scrape.
