Critics Choice Awards adds new categories as Chelsea Handler returns to host.

Both film and TV nominations will be announced on Friday, Dec. 5 ahead of the annual awards show on Sunday, Jan. 4.
Handler, who first helmed the ceremony in 2023, is back with her sharp wit and no-filter energy. The Critics Choice Association confirmed the expansion includes fresh recognition for Best Stand-Up Comedy Performance and Best Casting in Film—a nod to the evolving landscape of entertainment.
The Critics Choice Awards are often seen as a bellwether for the Oscars and Emmys. Last year’s winners included Oppenheimer and Succession, both of which went on to dominate their respective seasons.
