Clinic Gets Wonky While cupcakKe Goes Straight for the Punchline

Clinic twist “You and I” into a wiry little piece of outsider pop, while cupcakKe makes “That’s Like” hit fast, hard and funny without wasting a second. Thursday’s pairing lives at opposite ends of the production spectrum, but both tracks know exactly how much personality can fit inside a compact runtime.
Two tracks. Two discoveries. One daily detour.
Come Thru Vocals is INYIM’s long-running daily music discovery series spotlighting voices and songs worth hearing. Selections may also move into Musique Dig’s Weekly Playlist and rotation on INYIM Radio.

Clinic
Tune: “You and I”
WHY IT CAUGHT OUR EAR
“You and I” is Clinic at their crooked-pop best: rickety percussion, odd little melodic turns and just enough propulsion to keep the whole thing twitching forward. As the first single from their tenth album, Wild In The Streets, it also comes with a sly show-business streak that makes the Liverpool duo’s outsider instincts feel as sharp as ever.

Tune: “That’s Like”
WHY IT CAUGHT OUR EAR
“That’s Like” is pure compression: cupcakKe barrels through the track with tightly wound flow, punchlines and attitude before the two-minute mark can even catch up with her. ANTYDE’s hard-edged production gives her plenty to ricochet off, but it is the delivery — quick, precise and gleefully unbothered — that makes this one stick.
Come back for the next daily detour. Keep discovering in the Come Thru Vocals archive, hear the week’s six strongest finds in Musique Dig’s Weekly Playlist, and keep the music moving on INYIM Radio.
