The Strokes

The Strokes are a New York rock band whose stripped-down guitars and detached cool helped ignite the early-2000s garage-rock revival. Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti broke internationally with the 2001 debut Is This It and songs including “Last Nite,” “Someday” and “Hard to Explain.” Room on Fire, First Impressions of Earth and later albums gradually added post-punk, synth and pop textures. The Grammy-winning The New Abnormal confirmed their durability, followed by 2026’s Reality Awaits and continued festival-headlining performances.
