Rare DM

Rare DM is the electronic project of Brooklyn-based singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Erin Hoagg. Born in Baltimore and raised in Traverse City, Michigan, Hoagg developed Rare DM around analog synthesizers, drum machines and a hardware-focused live setup. The project draws from darkwave, synth-pop, EBM, electroclash, post-punk and techno, pairing dance-oriented electronics with intimate writing about relationships, communication and modern life. Rare DM released the debut album Vanta Black in 2019 and followed it with the 2026 full-length Attention, alongside singles including “The Ring,” “325,” “Compliment,” “Mean Girled” and “LA Traffic.” Hoagg has performed across North America, Europe and Mexico, including appearances at SXSW and Cold Waves.
