Michel’le is an American R&B singer from Los Angeles whose unusually high speaking voice contrasts with the full-bodied, bluesy vocal style heard on her records. She emerged from the late-1980s West Coast hip-hop orbit and released her Dr. Dre-produced self-titled debut in 1989 on Ruthless Records. The album produced the Top 10 pop hit “No More Lies” along with “Nicety” and “Something in My Heart.” Her close musical ties to N.W.A., Ruthless and later Death Row made her an important early bridge between West Coast rap production and contemporary R&B.
