Lorde

Lorde is a New Zealand singer-songwriter whose minimalist production and sharply observed lyrics helped reset the language of 2010s pop. Raised in Auckland, she became an international star as a teenager with “Royals” and the album Pure Heroine. Melodrama expanded her sound into emotionally charged electronic pop, while Solar Power and Virgin continued her preference for album-length reinvention, distinctive vocal phrasing and writing that treats youth, fame and adulthood with unusual precision.
