Julian Casablancas is an American singer, songwriter and musician best known as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter of The Strokes, and later as the frontman of The Voidz. Raised in New York City, he helped drive the early-2000s garage-rock revival before expanding into synth-pop, experimental rock and solo work with Phrazes for the Young. He also founded Cult Records, extending his role in independent music beyond his own recordings.
