Bobby Brown is a Boston-born American R&B singer who first reached a national audience as a member of New Edition. After leaving the group, he launched a solo career with King of Stage (1986), then established his signature sound on 1988’s Don’t Be Cruel, a landmark new jack swing album featuring “My Prerogative,” “Every Little Step,” “Roni,” and “Rock Wit’cha.” Brown won the 1990 Grammy for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Every Little Step” and followed with the successful album Bobby (1992), including “Humpin’ Around” and “Good Enough.” He also recorded “On Our Own” for Ghostbusters II and later reunited with New Edition for Home Again (1996). His most recent solo studio album is The Masterpiece (2012).
