An Addams family star, a thrift-store tradition, and Halloween down to the wire
Even with Halloween just then around the corner, a costume plan can still come down to the wire. INYIM Media caught up with Isaac Ordonez of Wednesday and Marta Kessler of The Mysterious Benedict Society to talk last-minute Halloween costumes during UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital’s 26th annual Party on the Pier in Santa Monica.
As it turns out, playing a member of the Addams family does not guarantee a grand Halloween plan. Isaac Ordonez, who plays Pugsley on Netflix’s Wednesday, told INYIM that filming can mean some seriously long days. “I don’t know if I was going to be home for Halloween,” he explained. As for the costume? “It’s probably going to be a last-minute costume,” he admitted, adding that he was still debating what to be. Pugsley Addams may live in a world of perpetual Halloween, but the actor playing him knows how demanding a shooting schedule can be.
And there is more Wednesday on the way. Season 3 wrapped filming on September 30, 2026, and is now in post-production, according to Netflix. Filming began near Dublin earlier this year, giving the cast another lengthy stretch inside the world of Nevermore Academy.
For Marta Kessler, last-minute Halloween planning is practically tradition. “All of my Halloween costumes are really last minute,” she told us. Last year, she dressed as a character from Fight Club with a friend, making a thrift-store run the night before to put her outfit together. And this Halloween? She expects another spontaneous costume plan with her friend. Apparently, some things are more fun without weeks of preparation.
Kessler, known for playing Constance Contraire in The Mysterious Benedict Society, also spoke about her recent work on The Conjuring: First Communion. She described the upcoming film as a Conjuring prequel and said it is due September 10, 2027. Between her move into horror and Ordonez’s Addams family credentials, we could not resist asking how these two planned to spend the spookiest night of the year—even if their costumes were still a work in progress.
The exchange came during the October 25, 2026 fundraiser at Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier, where the day’s rides, games and celebrity appearances supported children and families served by UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital.
