Present-Day Developments: one very hungry bear found the cabin buffet.
Present-Day Developments: A fuzzy bear roamed into a cabin near California’s Sequoia National Park and reportedly spent about five hours helping itself to food from two refrigerators.
Cabin owner Scott Osborn said the bear seemed particularly interested in the sweet stuff, including Hershey’s chocolate and caramel syrup. Apparently, if you are going to stage a five-hour kitchen takeover, dessert comes first.
Bear Break-In
Five hours. Two refrigerators. One extremely committed guest.

It is funny from a distance, but the National Park Service is very serious about keeping food and scented items secured around bears. In the Sierra Nevada, the bears people encounter are American black bears, which can actually range in color from black to brown, cinnamon or even blonde.
NPS warns that bears are drawn to more than just obvious food. Soap, sunscreen, deodorant, toothpaste and garbage can all attract them, which is why proper food storage matters so much around Sequoia and Kings Canyon.
As for this particular visitor? Five hours, two refrigerators and a weakness for chocolate syrup sounds less like a break-in and more like an extremely determined all-you-can-eat situation.
At least the bear knew exactly what it wanted.
