Miss pop princess Zara Larsson thinks pink for Allure’s new cover shoot — and not in the obvious way.

Zara shines as she steps in front of photographer Hugo Comte’s camera, while hairstylist Iggy Rosales turns the pink fantasy all the way up through a lineup of sleek wigs in dusty rose, salmon and barely-there blush.

The beauty brief was anything but accidental. Rosales told Allure that the moodboard pulled from a modern ’50s pinup with a 2000s influence — playful, sexy and just surreal enough to keep the whole thing from feeling retro for retro’s sake. He brought more than 10 wigs to set before the team narrowed the look toward the sleeker, more graphic shapes that made the final images.
The shoot also strips away some of the neon excess normally associated with Zara’s current Midnight Sun universe. Rather than drowning her in every color at once, the team lets the pink hair do the talking against metallic silver, black and white styling. The contrast makes the color hit harder — less bubblegum princess, more precision pop android who just happened to raid a beauty counter.
Behind the camera, the crew is stacked: Ronald Burton III on styling, Sophia Sinot on makeup, Rosales on hair, Juan Alvear on manicure and Alice Jacobs on set design. The cover story itself was written by Hunter Lacey, while Kara Nesvig broke down the pink-hair transformation for Allure.
And because Zara never seems interested in stopping at one version of herself, the shoot moves through several pink-haired identities: a center-parted lob, a choppier bob with bangs and a pale blonde crop that fades into baby pink. Rosales singled out the pink bob with bangs as a favorite because it felt different for Zara while somehow still feeling unmistakably her.
